Project TUTC Jagir Lodge Dudhwa
Pegging New Standards for Luxury
Pegging New Standards for Luxury
Challenge
An existing hunting lodge that was converted to a hotel needed an enhanced experience to compliment the multiple forest reserves of Dudhwa, Katarniaghat, Kishanpur and Dudhwa National Park that are a short distance away. Four cottages on raised platforms were to be designed using locally sourced material while ensuring that the guests enjoyed a sense of wholesome luxury in the wild.
Interpretation
We interpreted the challenge by creating the cottages as a modern interpretation of traditional local structures. Our design solution had to meet the stringent requirements of luxury hospitality, making sure that all aspects of the resort that the guests come in contact with expressed uncompromising aesthetics and comfort.
Solution
We explored materials that evoked luxury while staying true to the solid construction and longevity that a travelling camp needs. The cottages have been created using thatch roofing that was constructed by local artisans whereas the walls and flooring area made in a combination of high grade teak wood and Aluminium glazing that envelop a metal framework. A customized flooring with uneven interlocking joints compliment the environment the cottages are nestled in. An elevated walkway made out of Rhodesian teak resting on a metal framework connects a set of two cottages together. The cottages have been created using high quality construction and detailing, to deliver a pristine experience that stands apart from any existing offering in the market designed to complement luxury in the wild.
